Tech Talks at Sea is Flexport’s semi-annual event series for Bay Area technologists. While each event is centered on a different theme, they all explore the ways technology can impact and improve the physical world around us. The events bring together engineers, designers and product managers to connect and learn from each other, all while cruising the San Francisco Bay!
The theme for our May 2019 event is “Technology for Good.” From self-driving cars to the accessibility of healthcare, if you have a technical solution or insight that will improve the everyday lives of people across the world, we’d love for you to submit a proposal!
Tell me more about Tech Talks at Sea
We host Tech Talks at Sea on a boat that cruises the San Francisco Bay. Each event features 4-5 TED-style technical talks, given by speakers from Flexport and other Bay Area tech companies. Aside from the talks, there’s always plenty of time for networking and relationship building over the course of the evening. The event is free to attend and refreshments (food and beverages) are provided.
Tech Talks at Sea events are invite-only and capped at 100 external guests (spots always fill up fast!). In the past we’ve drawn top-notch engineers, designers and product managers from tech companies around the Bay. Small groups of employees from Flexport and our speakers’ companies attend as well.
Flexport is grateful to be a member of the tech community in San Francisco, and the opportunity to bring people together and hear about the exciting work being done. We’ll offset 100% of the carbon emissions from the event through our partner Carbonfund.org.
Let’s talk about the talk
You can expect to be speaking to top tech talent, so your talk should be technically focused. And to fit with our current theme, it should demonstrate how you’re making the world a better place with technology. You’ll have 10-15 minutes to present and have access to a screen if you want to display slides.
